The DeSales Dance Department is thrilled to present the 2024 DeSales University Dance Ensemble Concert. The production showcases an exciting blend of novel choreographic work from renowned guest artists and our accomplished dance faculty. Guest choreographers Armando Braswell, Brandon Coleman, and Megan Mizanty will premiere new works, while two pieces from our dance faculty will be part of the program. The featured work on the program is an excerpt from Urban Bush Women’s Walking With ‘Trane. Staged by Tendayi Kuumba, Walking With ‘Trane is inspired by the musical life and spiritual journey of John Coltrane, a composer at the forefront of jazz innovation in a racially charged America of the 50’s and 60’s. Presented on our Main Stage, the DeSales University Dance Ensemble Concert is a testament to the versatility and skill of our talented Dance majors, whose work “should be witnessed and celebrated,” said Kuumba.
